Diamantoulakis助理教授(亚里士多德大学AUTH)内容简介This talk explores uplink strategies for 6G networks, emphasizing AI efficiency through next-generation multiple access (NGMA) techniques. Topics include multi-access edge computing (MEC), network slicing, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), and rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA). A novel Distributed Uplink RSMA (DU-RSMA) method is introduced, enhancing network capacity and remote radio head collaboration. Over-the-air computing (AirComp) is highlighted as a non-orthogonal alternative for simultaneous data aggregation and computation. The role of machine learning (ML) in multiple access is also explored, covering federated learning, split learning, and ML-based protocols. The talk concludes by stressing the need to optimize communication and computation for scalable, AI-driven 6G systems.

Tegos博士后内容简介This talk highlights reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) as a transformative 6G technology for optimizing signal distribution and controlling wireless transmissions. Key topics include their implementations, functionalities, and mathematical modeling. Focusing on diffusion functionality, RISs as randomly reconfigurable surfaces (RRSs) with time-varying phase shifts are discussed for enhanced communication. Cascaded RIS networks are explored, demonstrating superior coverage and signal quality compared to single RIS setups. Zero-energy RISs (zeRIS), powered entirely by harvested energy, are introduced for sustainable communication. Light-emitting RISs (LeRIS), integrating LEDs for precise user localization, and UAV-mounted RISs for IoT data collection are also presented. The latter leverages UAV mobility, energy-aware design, and a novel medium access control protocol to improve IoT system throughput in 6G networks.

Karagiannidis教授(亚里士多德大学AUTH)内容简介To understand the role of optical wireless communications (OWC) in 6G, it is crucial to explore the specific services where it offers distinct advantages. Academia and industry agree that 6G will drive massive deployment of machine-type nodes in 2D/3D service areas, demanding unprecedented reliability, ultra-low latency, and higher data rates. Beyond these, 6G aims to enable energy-efficient communication, built-in security, privacy, trustworthiness, and networked sensing and localization. These requirements reshape wireless network design, creating new opportunities for OWC adoption as a complementary, not competitiv, technology to RF. Integrating RF and optical spectrum under a cross-band PHY and MAC layer design is critical to achieving 6G KPIs, pushing wireless communication boundaries. This talk highlights these opportunities, showcasing examples, preliminary results, challenges, and future research directions.
