讲座内容简介

Distributed physical fields widely exist in the engineering applications; examples include deformation, strain/stress and thermal fields. Distributed-parameter model-based machine perception plays an important role in intelligent manufacturing and in robot intelligence. However, traditional optical and infrared measurements have limitations in real world applications due to occlusion, noise and low resolution. This talk presents results of our research studies on distributed field reconstruction using hybrid methods that combine physics modeling and optical/thermal measurements. Several application examples will be demonstrated. The first will begin with real-time reconstruction of a temperature field for monitoring cutting-tool using hybrid macro-scale IR imaging and micro-scale modeling, and for bio-heat applications where the physical field reconstruction takes advantages of the natural heat distribution characteristics of human tissues to guide the blind and visually impaired people in their daily wayfinding. Next, the talk will present deformation field perception of a flexonic mobile node for structural health monitoring based on techniques that couple multi-view vision and computational methods to reconstruct physical fields for 4D synthetic perceptions and reveal hidden details.  Finally, the talk will discuss future physics-based reconstruction methods to support applications that require simultaneous perception of deformation strain field and material mechanical properties.
