Education: University of Tokyo BSc (1977) ，PhD degree (1982) under guidance of Professor T. Mukaiyama .
Work experiences:1982 Assistant Professor, Kyushu Institute of Technology; 1985 Associate Professor, Kyushu Institute of Technology; 1987-1988 Post doctorate fellow, Yale University with Professor S. Danishefsky; 1991 Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Tohoku University;1997 Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University;1999-present Professor, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University;2006-2012 Professor, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University;2007-2012 PI, WPI-AIMR, Tohoku University;
