主讲人简介：
Alexander Strom is Chief Expert at the JSC Hydroproject Institute (Russia), Professor at the Russian State Geological Prospecting University. He is a senior member of the International Consortium on Landslides (ICL) and the Russian principal investigator of the China–Russia joint project. He also serves as a member of the Editorial Board of the international journal Landslides. His research focuses on major geohazards such as large-scale landslides, landslide dams, and active faults, and he has more than 40 years of academic research and engineering practice in these fields. As one of the internationally recognized experts in the study of rock avalanches, Prof. Strom has significant international influence.
讲座内容简介：
Rock avalanches represent one of the most destructive large-scale slope processes in mountainous terrains. This seminar will provide an overview of the main characteristics observed in rock avalanches worldwide, and outline key criteria for distinguishing their deposits from those produced by other mass movement processes, such as moraines or debris flows. It will further discuss approaches to rock avalanche classification, highlighting their value for interpreting emplacement behavior and underlying mechanisms. In addition, the seminar will explore quantitative relationships between slope failure parameters and mobility indicators of rock avalanches, providing a scientific basis for evaluating potential impact zones and identifying areas at risk from future events.
