讲座内容简介

Magnetic fields are widely utilized as media for energy conversion and information storage. Harnessing magnetic fields for sensing and control of mechatronic systems is a reliable and efficient means in harsh conditions as magnetic fields are invariant to temperature, pressure, radiation, and other environmental factors.  As compared to its noncontact counterparts, such as optical and vision-based sensors, magnetic sensors permit sensing across multiple nonferromagnetic mediums and allow detecting the interior of objects. The main obstacle preventing widespread adoption of such magnetic field-based noncontact sensors is the nonuniqueness in field sensing and the complexity involved in the inverse computations. Inspired by the developments in sensor fusion technology, new methods utilizing efficient magnetic-field models and multi-sensor approaches are pursed. The applications in multi-parameter sensing in manufacturing process and direct field-based control of a ball-joint-like spherical motor will be presented.
