内容简介:

About 1.3 million people die on the roads around the world each year. Road traffic injury is the ninth leading cause of death, according to World Health Organization (WHO). As the awareness of road safety and its economic and social implications has grown significantly, many countries have set ambitious targets aiming to promote the commitment of policymakers and formulation of timely road safety plan for sustained road injury reduction. Studies indicate that setting of quantified road safety target is associated with significant fatality reduction in the short term. Also, factors that contribute to the success of road safety target are revealed. In this presentation, common road safety problems and associated factors will be discussed. Then, advanced analytic methods for road safety research of pedestrian safety will be presented. In particular, possible bias and deficiencies are controlled for. Finally, issues of the applications will be discussed in the illustrative examples in urban cities like Hong Kong.
