主讲人介绍：Professor and Chair of Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University . She has published widely in the areas of assessment, second language writing, and teacher education, and is the author of Assessing Writing (2002, Cambridge University Press). She served as President of the International Language Testing Association (2021-2022) and led global workshops in Vietnam, Colombia, Thailand, and Qatar.
讲座内容：Generative AI and machine learning have disrupted language testing, exemplified by the Duolingo English Test (DET), which automates item generation/scoring as a cheaper alternative to TOEFL iBT and IELTS. This study compares their constructs via public materials, analyzing task demands (listening, reading, speaking, writing) and scoring. Findings reveal automation limits construct coverage and validity, challenging claims of score comparability despite concordance tables.
